Meet Jesus

At the center of Center Fork is the person and work of Jesus Christ our Savior. Before you consider all our classes, ministries and meetings – we pray that you will meet Jesus first. This church began in 1930 by preaching Jesus Christ and calling people to repentance and faith in Him. Almost 100 years later, we are still doing our best to make Jesus Christ the center of who we are and what we proclaim. Who is Jesus?

The Bible teaches that Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God who entered humanity through a miraculous virgin birth (Luke 1:34-38). He is the creator and sustainer of all that exists (Col. 1:15-18). Through His atoning death on the cross and His resurrection from the dead, He offers those who trust in Him forgiveness of sin (Acts 10:43), reconciliation with God (Romans 5:6-10), and eternal life (John 3:16). Jesus Christ is the only person who can fix what sin has destroyed in our relationship with God (John 14:6, I Tim. 2:3-6). Jesus is so much more than these few words and we encourage you to watch a few of the videos under Need More Information? that explain more fully who Jesus is.

Who am I?

The Bible teaches human beings were created in the image and likeness of God. Our status as His image bearers elevates us above the rest of creation. We are uniquely made to know, serve, love, and worship God (Genesis 1:26-28). But instead of fulfilling the purpose that God intended, Adam sinned in the garden when He broke God’s commandment. Because of Adam’s sin, the consequences spread to all human beings(Romans 3:23,5:12). This sinful nature corrupts us, twists us, and infects us. We are still the image of God but sin has marred and distorted that image. We are uniquely created image bearers who stand separated from God by sin.

Why do I need Jesus?

Sin brings death (Gen. 2:15-17, Romans 6:23). This death includes physical death, spiritual death, and eternal death. We are all prisoners of this inevitable conclusion (Hebrews 9:27). We need a Savior that will rescue us from death in all its forms (Romans 8:2-4). Jesus Christ has come to save us and give us victory over the grave and unite us with God (I Cor. 15:57, Eph. 2:1-6).

Sin also brings God’s judgment or wrath. Unless we trust Jesus Christ as our Savior, we abide under God’s judgement for our unbelief and our sins (John 3:18, John 3:36). But Jesus Christ has come and through His death paid for our sins (Isaiah 53:1-12). He bore the wrath of God that we deserved and Jesus offers us forgiveness of sins, reconciliation with God, and peace with God (Romans 3:21-26, Romans 5:6-11).

How do I respond?

Salvation is a gift of God’s grace (Eph. 2:8-10). Although salvation is a gift and available to all, we still must receive it for ourselves. Two words describe how we must respond…

Repentance is our recognition that we need this free gift of His grace (Acts 3:19). We must come to the end of our attempts to justify ourselves, fix ourselves, or work our way into God’s favor (Acts 17:30).

Believe. The Bible is clear that all that Jesus Christ has done for us can be received by faith (John 1:12-13, Romans 3:21-26, Acts 16:30-31). Faith isn’t just head knowledge but includes our whole selves (mind, heart, and will). Faith is trusting or resting in Jesus Christ and all that He has done so that we might be saved.

If you haven’t taken this step, we encourage you to call out on Jesus Christ TODAY (Romans 10:13)!
